Unlasting Dream is a short psychological drama that reflects on the fragility of human aspiration and the inevitable passage of time. The film follows a character caught between hope and disillusionment, navigating memories, regrets, and fading ambitions that blur the boundary between reality and imagination.
Through its poetic narrative and meticulous visual design, Unlasting Dream explores the theme of impermanence—how dreams, no matter how vivid or deeply cherished, gradually dissolve in the face of reality. The film uses symbolic color palettes, shifting between soft yellows that evoke nostalgia, muted grays representing disappointment, and deep purples that convey tension and conflict. These deliberate choices enhance the emotional texture of each scene and guide the viewer through the protagonist’s inner journey.
Visually, Unlasting Dream stands out for its sophisticated post-production techniques, including seamless motion-tracked transitions, chroma key compositing, and detailed color grading. Every frame is crafted to maintain continuity and reinforce the story’s emotional tone. The title sequence, designed as an evolving animation of fading sketch lines, encapsulates the film’s central idea—dreams that once burned brightly inevitably fade, leaving behind a quiet beauty in their impermanence.
Ultimately, Unlasting Dream is a cinematic meditation on the fleeting nature of ambition and memory, inviting viewers to reflect on what remains after the dream ends.
As the editor of Unlasting Dream, I was responsible for shaping the film’s visual and emotional narrative through advanced post-production techniques. My work focused on creating a seamless, immersive experience while overcoming technical and creative challenges.
A major part of my contribution involved visual effects and compositing. For example, I integrated a photo frame into a dynamic scene transition using motion tracking and chroma keying, ensuring the frame aligned perfectly with camera movements. To address artifacts caused by background elements, I implemented layered compositing and precise masking, maintaining visual continuity while enhancing narrative flow.
I also undertook extensive color grading to unify footage filmed under different lighting conditions and to reinforce the story’s emotional tone. Using Adobe Premiere Pro’s Lumetri Color tools, I adjusted exposure, saturation, highlights, and shadows, creating consistent moods across scenes—from the nostalgic warmth of memories to the muted grays of disappointment and the purples of interpersonal tension.
Additionally, I designed the title sequence and animation, translating the film’s central theme of impermanence into visual form. Through dynamic line animation, motion blur, and gradient effects, the title sequence reflected the ephemeral nature of dreams, evolving from delicate sketch-like lines into bold, solid text.
Overall, my role combined technical precision, creative problem-solving, and aesthetic decision-making, ensuring that every frame, effect, and color choice enhanced the narrative and emotional impact of Unlasting Dream.
